Persona 5 Royal: 10 Best Girls / Waifus In the Series

The Persona series has stood the test of time to become perhaps the most popular and relevant modern JRPG series in the world.

Persona 5 upped its waifu game hard. Boasting an overall stronger number of choices compared to previous entries Personas 3 and 4 and unlockable extra scenarios with your chosen so, choosing a girl has never been harder.

The Persona 5 are filled to the brim with girls, but who is the best of the best?

These are the 10 best girls in Persona 5 .

10. Chihaya Mifune

Chihaya is not popular because it is possible to totally miss her if you ignore the rumors of a fortune teller in Shinjuku. More than that, you have to pay 100,000 yen to buy a useless item to continue with her story.

She is cute and sweet, but there is very little to her compared to other romance options in the game. She is very far from plot-relevant.

On top of spending a lot of money, she also has multiple Mementos quests for you to complete.

9. Ichiko Ohya

Ichiko Ohya isn’t just the worst Confidant in Persona 5, she’s the worst Social Link in the entire series — romantically or otherwise.

For a character that’s supposed to be going through a midlife crisis of sorts and spends all her time getting drunk, one would think that the story she has to tell would be interesting.

Instead, what we have is a poorly-written Social Link that becomes even more awkward if you initiate a relationship with her.

8. Sae Niijima

Sae is the older sister and legal guardian of Makoto Niijima since their father’s death a few years ago. She now works as a Public Prosecutor of the Tokyo District Special Investigation Department at the Public Prosecutors Office.

7. Tae Takemi

Forget “girly” Arcana like Lovers and Priestess, Tae’s bond empowers your Death Persona.

She has a morbid sense of humor, but is a genuinely compassionate woman and potential partner despite your apparent age difference (her exact age isn’t revealed).

6. Hifumi Togo

Hifumi is the only girl around Jokers age that is not a Phantom Thief who is a romance option. She also goes to a different high school, the same that Yusuke attends. She is a Female Shogi League Champion and teaches Joker Shoji.

She is pretty difficult to max out and is not plot-relevant. However, she is one of the best romances because she is another person in high school like Joker.

She may not be a Phantom Thief, but she has one of the best confidant abilities in the game. She gives you the ability to swap team members in the middle of a fight.

5. Sadayo Kawakami

Kawakami gives an immediate impression that she has more in store for you than is first let on. She’s one of the first people in your new school that actually treats you like you’re human.

This is actually one of her defining traits: her dedication to her students and the constant need to help others. She’s also a hard worker, a gentle soul, and a dependable friend.

4. Futaba Sakura

Social anxiety is a touchy topic to deal with, and the manner in which it has been portrayed through Futuba in Persona 5 is quite impressive.

Slowly taking Futaba out of her shell and helping her experience the world with a new perspective is truly a brilliant feeling.

While the angle of Futaba being perhaps a bit too young certainly applies here, the quality of her Social Link more than makes up for it.

3. Haru Okumura

She shows immense courage as soon as she’s introduced and never lets up in her tenure as a Phantom Thief. You’d hardly know that in reality, she’s a shy high schooler who has a lot of trouble standing up to authority.

Haru doesn’t have a bad bone in her body, making her the purest, most kind-hearted character you’ll be introduced to in the whole story. On top of all that, her little poodle mane never fails to charm, especially when coupled with her Wild West-inspired attire.

2. Ann Takamaki

Using the Phantom Thief codename “Panther,” Ann is one of your earliest companions. She’s arguably the most moral member of the Phantom Thieves, ensuring the group never loses sight of their ultimate goal—helping people.

With looks like hers, it’s no surprise Ann works as a model, and she’s no slouch in battle, wielding powerful fire-based skills.

1. Makoto Niijima

Makoto’s ascension from being a villain into one of the main characters is quite a brilliant tale in itself. However, what makes this even better is the fact that her Social Link is just as good, if not better!

She’s easily one of the deepest and most engrossing Confidants in the game, to the point where players can’t help but fall in love with the President of the Student Council.
